The Yavatmal District is located in the eastern region (Vidarbha) of the Maharashtra
state of India. Yavatmal, the name of district is said to be originated from
Yeota, chief town of a pargana and the termination is either the word 'mal' or
a 'hill 'or a corruption of mahal. Yavatmal is also known as Cotton City.
Geographical location is North Latitude 19.260 to 20.420
and East Longitude 77.180 to 79.980.
Total area is 13584 Sq.km.
The Total population of Yavatmal district is 20.77 lakh
including Rural population 17.20 Lakh and Urban population
3.57 Lakh. The schedule caste population is
2.27 Lakh and schedule tribe is 4.46 Lakh. The Sex ratio of Female is 951
